Laura Harter


Owner, Laura Harter, started at Piece of Cake in 2008 in customer service and quickly fell in love with the customers, atmosphere and neighborhood. She grew up in a home where her mother's baking was a delicious way to bond with family and continues that passion for her family today. Laura loves the diversity and quality of Columbus' locally owned restaurant scene and looks forward to bringing new sweet & savory items to our ever-expanding menu. Her favorite delight is our Chocolate Stout Cake with Zaftig beer layered with Espresso Cream and Ganache.

Jason Mills

Customer Service Specialist

Jason Mills was born in Georgia, but has spent most of his life in Central Ohio. He has been a Customer Service Specialist with us since August 2012 and does a great job at making every customer's experience exceptional. Jason aspires to own his own business one day, but now he is happy helping customers design cakes for their special occasion. His favorite sweet treat at the bakery is our decadent Chocolate Truffle Cake!

Isabel Hicks

Cake Decorator and Buttercream Master

Cake Decorator, Isabel Hicks grew up in Columbus. She began decorating cakes in her mother’s kitchen at a young age and moved on to refining her skills at Mrs. Goodman’s Baking Co. and Market District. Her original plan was to be a history major, but fell in love with the hospitality world! Isabel will be finishing her Baking and Pastry Arts degree in the fall at Columbus State. Expanding her skills in not only cake decorating; she paints, gardens, & enjoys creating new dishes in the kitchen. She started here in June 2013 and excels at detailed drawing of logos, animals, and characters. Her favorite bakery item is the Cowboy Cookie!.

Kendall Jensen

Wedding Cake Specialist

Wedding and Specialty Cake Decorator Kendall Jensen, lives in Hilliard, Ohio but originally hails from Boise, Idaho. She moved to the Columbus area 6 years ago and started her cake decorating career 14 years ago with taking Wilton cake decorating classes. In addition to making cakes at home for friends and family, she worked on and off at several store bakeries. Upon realizing that decorating cakes is what she wanted to do as a career, she joined local cake group, Central Ohio Sugar Artists where she was led to a wedding cake internship with Alice’s Piece of Cake. She is also a member of the International Cake Exploration Society. At home Kendall loves her family, babywearing and going to festivals. Kendall adores the Bourbon Turtle Tart and the Cassata Cake!

Megan Anderson

Assistant Manager, Fondant Artist & Specialty Cake Decorator

Fondant Artist and Specialty Cake Decorator Megan Anderson is new to Columbus, but started her cake decorating career five years ago at Charles Street Bakery in the Washington, D.C. area. Her Fine Arts background and ever-present sweet tooth provided a good transition into the creative career of decorating cakes and has been with us since August 2013. She looks forward to each week’s challenge of producing something bigger and better. Megan’s favorite part of her job is finding the extra little details that will make each customer’s cake something truly special to them, seeing the look on their face when they see it—and, of course, the Pumpkin Cookies.

Judy Malafa


Judy has been baking for over 10 years and is happy to be at Piece of Cake. She grew up in Ohio, getting her first baking training from her mother, and got her formal baking training in Chicago, IL. While not baking, she enjoys DIY, pinot noir, and being with her loved ones. Her favorite treat is the Pumpkin Cookie with Brown Sugar Penuche Icing.

Mariah Guthrie


Mariah grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. She found her love of baking while attending Miami University studying nutrition and dietetics. She moved to Columbus after graduation and continues to develop her baking skills at Short North Piece of Cake. While not working, Mariah enjoys spending time with her fury family members. Mariah loves the Chocolate Stout Cake!
